Filitheyo Island Resort

We visited Filitheyo in July a late 60th birthday treat for my Husband . We have to take our holidays at this time of year as my Husband is allocated holidays, we knew this wasn’t the best time to visit The Maldives but as we had been to another island the previous year in May which again isn’t the best time and had glorious weather we were willing to chance it . We arrived at Male to sunshine and 30 degree heat which continued for the whole holiday. The rain we had was in the evening or at night with just a few cloudy days. We were welcomed off the boat with cold towels and smiling faces followed by a lovely refreshing mocktail. We were then shown details of the island any questions were answered and then were given a jet lag neck/shoulder massage. Very much appreciated after such a long journey. What can I say about Filitheyo having already been to a bigger island with lots of restaurants we were not sure if just a buffet would be enough for us,. It was more than enough the food quality was amazing with different dishes and even though we were there for 2 weeks there were no identical days, some dishes were repeated and we were pleased about that with some. The Island is a lovely size small enough to walk around and so well looked after. The rooms are not posh but are kept spotlessly clean and have everything you need. We were in a water Bungalow which was lovely being able to see the fish as we relaxed on the deck but was a little noisy on nights when it rained or was windy. The Sunset bar and pool area was one of our favourite things about the island. The service the pool and the views were great. The house reef was stunning we saw so many fish unfortunately we didn’t see a turtle but the amount we did see made up for it. The thing that makes the Island so special are the staff. Every single member of staff met you with a smile and wanted to make your holiday special. We had few favourites a special Thank you to Mamun who met us each morning with beds ready and 2 iced coffees. Thanks also to Mazin our waiter and Yaish who helped when Mazin was off. What an amazing team you have at The Sunset Bar including Viraj,Mahesh, Dinusha, Raj and manager Hussain. All the staff in every bar and on the whole island were great. The value for money was great with the great food and service at half the cost of other islands . A. Special Thank you to you all at Filitheyo and can’t wait to return. If there was one negative it is the roofs on the Water Bungelows last 5 need replacing and unfortunately the first view you have of the island is those bungalows covered in green tarpaulin which distracts from the beauty of the Island. Hopefully when we return they will be sorted.

Our trip to the Filithio island resort has been a wonderful one so far. The hospitality of the resort staff is very good... You are greeted with smiling faces and cheerful good mornings... They are ever ready to help and make your stay the most comfortable one! We travelled with our 7 year old daughter... The staff ensured that she had an extra comfortable bed in the water villa, they kept her entertained during our meal times and showered her with some interesting gifts such as a leaf grasshopper, which she adores and wants to take back home to show her friends!! The food is exquisite with a variety of local and global cuisine. We are from India and the chef ensured that we always had some variety of Indian delicacies such as aaloo paratha, or Dal fry! Chef Sohail also organized a cooking class for the guests and taught us the recipe of Kuli mass... a local fish delicacy... Overall our trip was a fantastic one with memorable moments all thanks to the lovely staff of Filithio Island resort.

We have been lovers of the Maldives for 10 years, so this May we spent our vacation in this beautiful country. We chose the FILITHEYO resort for its nice home reef signed in several reviews. The underwater world and the state of the corals is a huge value of this island. The house reef is easily accessible from the beach and since we lived in the exit 6-7 area ( VillaNo.77) we had a coral garden almost at the door. Snorkeling was our daily activity and we enjoyed it very much. And what else to write about Filitheya? For the first time, we spent our vacation without wi-fi and without evening entertainment... and I'm happy to say that we didn't miss it at all. There were excellent guys in the Sun set bar (Rubel, Dino...) who took care of us as best as they could. Our two beers with foam was always on the table quickly and with a smile. The nice lady at the reception always waved to us and helped to solve every problem. The staff from the main restaurant (Nepal boy) was very respectful and attentive to the guests. Overall, we were satisfied with the vacation and I rate it as a good choice for our requirements. FILITHEYO has become unique for us, and despite the loss of my gold earring on the last day of our stay, we have only good memories. We would like to come back again. Katarina & Zdenko from Slovakia

We spent 8 nights in a beach villa at Filitheyo for our honeymoon and had an incredible time. The resort has excellent, helpful staff (thank you in particular to Abdullah), delicious food, comfortable accomodation, and good WiFi. However, the absolute highlight is the stunning house reef which is accessible at the 7 exits around the island for both scuba diving and snorkeling. While exploring the reef we saw turtles, white tip reef sharks, black tip reef sharks, nurse sharks, eagle rays, mobulas, and hundreds of fish. There are also 2 stunning wrecks you can dive to at 30m. We were never bored on the island and are already looking forward to our next visit.

We had a great experience with the staff at the resort - Zuhoor (tour / excursion guide always had great info to share with us and was helpful in any questions we had) - Abdullah (our waiter in main restaurant and was extremely friendly, funny, and always welcoming us with a smile and a laugh) - Shakarrah (villa housekeeper always kept our room tidy) The excursions were a lot of fun. We got lucky and saw the whale sharks on our trip and we were quite pleased to experience it. We visited the nearby island that is expanding during the island hop excursion and got to see some of the interesting points about the local culture. For fishing, we did the night fishing and got to catch some tasty fish while experiencing a fishing method neither of us had done before. The snorkel excursion provided some great snorkel spots to see many different fish, sharks, and coral. We were in a water villa and had some great views of fish from our deck anytime we wanted. The snorkeling right off of the water villas was quite good as well. We enjoyed some time on the beach just on the other side of the sunset bar and of course some time by the pool of the sunset bar too. The team at the sunset bar was great and always attentive to our needs.

A friendly welcoming resort, with great staff and an amazing setting! The food although buffet style was exceptional and all freshly cooked - the daily sashimi a highlight for us. The house reef was fabulous, we usually entered near gate 8 and the marine life was phenomenal. The bungalow we stayed in was semidetached- the majority were like this, we were fortunate in that we had no neighbours for 6 nights, so felt more private. The two bars were comfortable, only slight downside on the all inclusive was that the cocktails were a little limited. It’s because of the bungalow and the drinks we only score Filitheyo 4 stars - but make no mistake the whole holiday experience and the value for money make this a resort we would 100% return to! If you want fancy and glitz this is not the resort for you - but if you are happy walking round with no shoes and a relaxed vibe, then go for it!

FOURTH visit spanning 20 years ....it's just my favourite place. Quiet...excellent reef for snorkeling & .Great Staff from Abdullah & Faruk to Hossein ...it's just a joyous place to be. The food for such a remote,, snall island is fantastic. If you want 5 star supreme luxury.....go to Dubai or somewhere else....& if you have a problem with Filitheyo....I suggest....that you are the problem!

Where do l start....amazing resort. What made it so special was the staff, the hospitality was 5 star, would l recommend it, hell yes !! The ford was plentiful and a great range which changed daily, don't think about it just do it. Our last day today and l could have stayed another week
